Social casinos are gaming sites that you can access to play games without spending a dime. They give you the chance to spin the reels of their slot games using Gold Coins for fun play, as well as Sweeps Coins for promotional gameplay. They operate under the sweepstakes model, so they are not allowed to engage in real money play. As free to play gaming sites, they are available in almost all of the US states. However, for some reasons, they are still not allowed to operate in certain states, so make sure to check if the one you’re signing up for is available in your state of residence.
As we briefly stated above, social casinos run on the sweepstakes model, so they only permit the use of Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins for gaming activities. When you sign up for an account, you’ll receive a chunk of Gold Coins, Sweeps Coins, or even both that you can use to spin the reels of your preferred games in the lobby. Sometimes, you may need to enter social casino promo codes to claim these offers, other times you may not need to – actually depends on the site you sign up for.
And once you run out of the welcome bonus, you can either take advantage of ongoing bonuses like daily login rewards, referral bonuses, mail-in bonuses, or simply just purchase a Gold Coin bundle from the store. In case you don’t know, most social casinos allow you to purchase Gold Coin bundles from their store for more game time. But it’s optional, so you can choose not to proceed with the purchase and still be allowed to explore the lobby.
Moving on, most social casinos usually allow the redemption of eligible Sweeps Coins for real prizes once all of the attached conditions have been met. Some of these conditions could be physical presence in a state that permits sweepstakes activities, playthrough requirements, as well as identity verification.
Yes, social casinos are legal in the US. Not because they operate with any gaming license, but because they function under the sweepstakes model, which has forbidden them from engaging in real money play. However, just as we stated earlier, despite not permitting real money play, some sites have decided to restrict the activities of social casinos. But if you wish to explore some of the best real money alternatives, you can check out our online casinos hub page.
Just as we have mentioned a couple of times since the beginning of this guide, most social casinos make use of Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins for their gaming activities. While they are both used for gaming, it may interest you to note that they work entirely differently. Let’s check them out below:
Gold Coins are basically used to spin the reels of slot games in fun or entertainment mode. They don’t have any value and can’t be redeemed for real prizes. At best, they can be used to spin slot games during your free time, to develop new playing strategies, or simply to try out newly released slots before playing them in promotional mode.
The welcome bonus is usually the first point of contact with Gold Coins at most social casinos. From there, you’ll be allowed to claim more via on-site bonuses like daily rewards and referral bonuses. You can also purchase Gold Coin bundles from the coin store once your account is fully verified. However, note that purchases are 100% optional, so you’ll still get access to your game collections even if you don’t spend any dime at the coin store.
Sweeps Coins are also used to play games at many social casinos, but in promotional mode. When you play using Sweeps Coins, there’s a chance to redeem the ones you collect for real prizes once you meet all of the attached conditions. These conditions could be meeting the minimum SC threshold required, attached playthrough requirement, as well as identity verification. That said, note that unlike Gold Coins, you can’t purchase Sweeps Coins from the store, so you can only collect more via any of the on-site bonuses.
No doubt, there are tens of social casinos that are patiently waiting for you to jump on them. But don't make the mistake of settling for a random one, as overall the experience can vary from one site to another. However, if you wish to play at the newly launched site, you can check out our list of newest social casinos. But if you want a mix of both new and old ones, check out any of the recommended brands below:
CrownCoins Casino is one sweepstakes site you can explore if you’re looking to claim a wide range of bonus offers. First of all, new players on the site are open to claiming up to 100,000 Gold Coins and 2 Sweeps Coins without providing any promo code.
As soon as you sign up, the offer will be added to your account immediately. Besides bonuses, CrownCoins also wins hearts with its game collections. Even though it offers just over 600 games, we could still find a good number of high quality slots from NetGaming and other providers in the mix. Some of these slots include 3 Fortune Pandas, 3 Wild Jokers Carnival, 3 Wild Sevens, Fireball Inferno Tiki, and many more.
Hello Millions shines in a lot of ways, and the quality of its slot collection is definitely one of them. During our review, we counted more than 1500 games in the lobby, of which over 80% of them are slots. These slots are not just regulars. They were carefully selected from some of the best providers, talking about NetGaming and the rest. Some of these titles include American Wonder Reels, Fireball Inferno, Pirate Fortune, and much more.
The collection of slot games that we found here spread across not just classic, but also Megaways, video, as well as branded slots. What this means is that there are more than enough for you here, regardless of your gaming background. New players on the site are usually welcomed with 15,000 Gold Coins and 2.5 Sweeps Coins.
If you’re a fan of classic slots, we are not sure you'll get better titles elsewhere apart from Jackpota. The site houses more than 1,200 casino-style games in its lobby and I’m sure you’ll find some of your preferred titles in the lobby.
A quick look at the lobby reveals that it houses top titles like Fireball Inferno, 3 Wild Jokers, Fishing Reels Unlocked, and many more. Another great thing about the brand is that it features a well optimized site for mobile play. So, even without an app, you’ll still be able to enjoy all of the brand’s offerings via your mobile browser without running into any issues. If you like it here and decide to sign up, you’ll be eligible for a welcome bonus of 7,500 Gold Coins and 2.5 Sweeps Coins.
If popular slots appeal to you, then we think you should check out McLuck. The site offers more than 1000 casino-style games, including slots, table games, and live dealers. The slot games here spread across classic, Megaways, video slots, and even branded ones.
If you’d like to try your hands on the site, some of the titles that we found include Vegas Blitz, Fireball Inferno Tiki, 3 Wild Sevens, and American Wonder Reels from NetGaming. McLuck also shines for its generous bonus offers. First of all, new players are welcomed onboard with 7,500 Gold Coins and 2.5 Sweeps Coins without needing a promo code. Existing players are also open to claim referral and mail-in bonuses.
MegaBonanza is another good social casino that you can use. It is on this list due to a lot of reasons. First of all, signing up for an account here takes less than a minute, which is quite impressive. Secondly MegaBonanza features a lot of high quality slots that you can play, spread across classic games, Megaways, jackpot, and more. During our review, we ran into a good number of NetGaming slot titles in the lobby, talking about games like Fortune Gold, Touchdown Treasures, Lucky Vault, 3 Wild Jokers, Pirates Awakening, and many more. Sign up here and you become automatically eligible for a welcome bonus of 7,500 Gold Coins and 2.5 Sweeps Coins.
Although it shines in so many ways, one of the main reasons why PlayFame is on this list is its responsive mobile gameplay experience. The brand features both iOS and Android mobile apps, so you can enjoy your favorite slots even on the go.
Talking about slots, PlayFame houses a good number of options that you can play. The last time we checked, there were over 1,000 titles in the lobby, including slots and live dealer games. If you’re a big time fan of slots, there are many popular options you can play here, including Vegas Blitz, 3 Wild Jokers, Fireball Inferno, 3 Wild Sevens, and more. If you sign up for an account here, you’ll collect a welcome bonus of 7,500 Gold Coins and 2.5 Sweeps Coins.
Last but not least, SpinQuest is another top social casino site that you can use in the US. It claims to be the number 1 social casino in the US, and it may not be too far from the truth. We like it here for its user-friendly interface, which makes it easy for players to browse games, collect bonuses, while navigating to different sessions of the site. As for games, there are about 1000 titles here, of which most are slots – as always. The lobby contains games from NetGaming and a few other top rated providers, so there are options for you to choose from in the lobby. As for bonus, new players on SpinQuest get to claim a welcome bonus of 110,000 Gold Coins and 3 Sweeps Coins.
If you check all of the sites we recommended above, you’ll notice they all feature slots, table games, as well as live dealer titles. But for the purpose of this guide, we’ll be taking a close look at some of these games below:
As expected, slots are definitely the most numerous of all the games you can find at social casinos in the US. They usually come in classic options, Megaways, videos, branded, etc, so there are more than enough options to choose from regardless of your preference or gaming backgrounds. Thankfully, all of the sites are well optimized for mobile play, so you shouldn’t run into any issues while spinning the reels of your preferred titles.
Table games are also available at some of the recommended social casinos. If slots are not really your thing, you can switch things up with classics like Blackjack, Roulette, Baccarat, Poker, Craps, and much more. Just like slots, you can also play these games using either Gold Coins or Sweeps Coins. Table games are widely loved because they rely more on strategy and decision making than leaving things to chance.
If you’re looking for something that feels a little more realistic, many social casinos also feature live dealer games. These titles are streamed in real time from professional studios and hosted by real dealers, therefore allowing you to interact with both the dealer and, in some cases, other players during the game. Some popular options that you can find are Live Blackjack, Live Roulette, and Live Poker.
There are actually many top slot games from NetGaming that you can find on all the sites that we recommended above. However, for the purpose of this guide, here’s a table summarizing just a few of them:
| Slot titles | RTP |
|---|---|
| 3 Fortune Pandas | 94.43% |
| 3 Wild Jokers Carnival | 94.27% |
| Fireball Inferno Tiki Blast | 94.28% |
| Shamrock Trio | 94.41% |
| Super Stars USA | 96.28% |
| Zeus Thunderbolt 500 | 94.49% |
| Soccer Glory Fortune Pick | 94.17% |
| 3 Wild Jokers | 94.43% |
| American Wonder Reels | 94.15% |
| Santa’s Wild Reels | 94.10% |
There’s really no much stress in playing your first slot at social casinos. What you just need to do is sign up for an account on a reputable sweepstakes online casinos. Fortunately, we’ve listed some for you in this guide. All you just have to do is tap any of their banners from this page, and follow the on-screen instructions to create an account. You can follow the simple steps below to get started with your preferred slot games:
Tap any of the brand’s banners on this page.
Once the page loads up, provide all the required personal details.
Complete the registration process by verifying your email address or phone number.
Claim the welcome bonus.
Head to the lobby and select your preferred slot game.
Launch the game and choose whether to play in fun or promotional mode.
Input the number of Gold Coins or Sweeps Coins per spin.
Make other necessary settings.
Hit the spin button to begin gameplay.
However, before jumping on any of the recommended sites, kindly note that you must be physically present in any of their legal states.
Besides the welcome offer they offer, most of these recommended social casinos also provide players with a list of bonuses. These bonuses, which include daily login bonus, mail-in bonus, and referral rewards can help you keep spinning the reels of your favorite titles. Let’s check out some of these bonuses below:
With daily bonuses you can keep playing your favorite titles without spending anything on Gold Coin bundle purchases. On most of the recommended sites, these offers can come as Gold Coins, Sweeps Coins, or both. To claim, all you just need to do is hit the claim button as it pops up. Just as the name implies, the offer is available once per day for every eligible user.
Since Sweeps Coins can’t be purchased, mail-in bonuses give you the chance to claim them without doing much. Just send a handwritten request letter to the brand’s office address and when it gets approved, the rewards will be added to your account. At SpinQuest, for instance, you can get up to 5 Sweeps Coins for each of your approved request letters. However, to stand a better chance of getting approved, make sure your letter contains important details like your full name, email address, and phone number.
Share your referral link with family and friends for a chance to claim Gold Coins, Sweeps Coins, or both if your referrals meet certain conditions. Most of the time, your referrals will need to purchase Gold Coin bundles for you to qualify for the bonus. But that doesn’t mean purchases are compulsory on social casinos. In fact, they’ll still be able to explore their favorite games if they choose not to spend a dime on the site.
At the end of the day, despite not permitting real money play, the importance of social casinos cannot be overemphasized. First of all, they give players the chance to spin the reels of their favorite titles without necessarily spending a dime. Once you sign up for an account, they welcome you with a chunk of Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins, which can be used to play any of their slot games. And even if you run out of the welcome offers, they still have a list of regular bonuses that you can take advantage of, including daily offers, mail-in offers, and referral rewards.
However, those who don’t wish to pass through the stress of claiming any of these offers can opt-in to purchase Gold Coin bundles at their preferred social casinos. So, if you’ve followed us from the beginning of this guide and wish to explore some of the finest slots, what’s stopping you from creating an account?
